Fruit Trees
Our fruit trees and small fruiting shrub varieties are individually selected because we know they perform well in CNY conditions. We carry trees that are container grown for a season ensuring our customers are getting a tree with an established root system.
Hanging Baskets
With over 50 years of experience our growers know what goes into growing the perfect basket. We take special care in making sure that each and every hanging basket has a strong root system, healthy foliage, and brighter blooms. Whether accenting a porch or adding a splash of color to your landscape our hanging baskets will thrive all summer long.
Vegetable Plants
Our grass seed blends are specially formulated for Central New York soil and climate conditions. Every year grass seed trials are conducted at various universities. We analyze these results and then choose the best-performing varieties for Chuck’s Premium grass seed blends.
Perennials and Grasses
Perennials are the heart of every garden, offering seasonal flowers, interesting color, unique textures, variety, and function. Over the past forty-five years, we have partnered with growers who Chuck considers to be the best in the country. We carry the latest cultivars that offer superior performance with longer bloom times, more disease resistance, and easier maintenance. Our buyers visit our growing partners continually throughout the growing season searching for the highest quality plants available. We restock our inventory weekly and refresh our displays daily making sure our plants are always healthy and ready to thrive in your garden.
Chuck Hafner's Designer Annuals
Chuck Hafner’s designer Annuals are our signature plants, highly versatile and will brighten any garden throughout the entire growing season. They are a single season plant that blooms from the time they are planted right up until the first frost in late fall. Most of the annuals we sell are grown in our growing houses adjacent to the garden center. As the grower, we have complete control over the entire growing process. and are able to ensure our annuals are healthy, have a strong root system, and are at the right stage of bloom so that they explode with color in your landscape. Annuals are low maintenance, you can just plant, water, and fertilize and they will continue to flourish through the entire season.

Shrubs are a cornerstone of many landscapes adding height and color to borders and can be used together to create hedges and windbreaks. Chuck Hafner’s is the largest Proven Winners® certified grower-retailer in Central New York, and the foundation of our business since the Hafner brothers began in 1922 has been to only grow and sell the varieties of plants that we know from experience will thrive in your garden. Our nursery only stocks the best Proven Winners shrubs in Central New York, sourced from the highest quality suppliers in the country. Throughout the season we have a buyer on the road who hand selects only the best plants available from the growers and nurseries that we partner with

Chuck Hafner’s carries everything you need to start growing your own plants from the seeds themselves to the jiffy pots, trays, starter soils, heating mats, and fertilizers. We have everything to help you grow your own vegetables, flowers, and perennials.
Lawn Care
Chuck Hafner’s Lawn Care Program was developed specifically for Central New York’s climate and conditions. It’s the ideal solution to help keep your lawn looking great throughout the year,
and is made locally here in New York State.
Central New York’s Largest Garden Nursery
When the Hafner family began planning their expansion, they knew straight away that they wanted the largest space possible to display the plants that they sell. In 2006 Jess Hafner and his team traveled around Europe and the US searching out the best examples of garden centers to inspire them while they were designing the new store. They returned with ideas both encompassing inspiration and functionality. The result was a garden center that includes a 7-acre nursery designed to be a gigantic landscape. Over 60 display beds divided by winding paved pathways gives our customers the best selection of high-quality nursery stock, displayed in a beautiful environment, easy to shop, and sure to inspire.

The team here at Chuck Hafner’s are well known for their knowledge across all gardening areas. To help share that knowledge with our customers, we have created a series of gardening guides. From taking care of your hanging baskets or houseplants to growing your own vegetables and herbs you will find tips, tricks, and hopefully some inspiration for your own garden and home.
Delivery Services
Chuck Hafner’s delivers 7 days a week across Upstate New York from our location in North Syracuse. We deliver between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm.
Our Story
‘Hafner Brothers’ began in 1922 growing fresh fruits & vegetables. Chuck Hafner’s continues to grow and employs a staff of over 90 people seasonally in Syracuse NY. We continue to invest in local people and the local economy. Chuck Hafner’s history in Syracuse is a story we love to share.
Environmental
Many people would say the Hafner family have been green to the core all their lives. When they decided to build their new state of the art facility in 2008 here on Buckley Road the decision was made to make sure it was as environmentally sensitive as possible.
