Produce
Our tradition of selling quality fresh produce in Syracuse began over 100 years ago with the establishment of Hafner Brother’s Farm in 1922. We believe produce tastes best when it’s farm-fresh; so we begin our produce season in mid-June when homegrown strawberries come into season. As more and more homegrown produce becomes available we continue to partner with local farmers to carry only the best homegrown produce CNY has to offer.
Mums
Chuck’s Fall Mums are locally grown in our growing houses located adjacent to the garden center. We grow over 20,000 Fall Mums every year. Planting begins the first week of June ready for sales mid-August and continuing through October. Since we are the grower we have complete control over the entire growing process bringing our customers the healthiest mums on the market

Perennials and Grasses

Over the past forty-five years, we have partnered with growers who Chuck considers to be the best in the country. We carry the latest cultivars that offer superior performance with longer bloom times, more disease resistance, and easier maintenance. Our buyers visit our growing partners continually throughout the growing season searching for the highest quality plants available. We restock our inventory weekly and refresh our displays daily making sure our plants are always healthy and ready to thrive in your garden.

Our nursery only stocks the best Proven Winners shrubs in Central New York, sourced from the highest quality suppliers in the country. Central New York’s Largest Garden Nursery
When the Hafner family began planning their expansion, they knew straight away that they wanted the largest space possible to display the plants that they sell. In 2006 Jess Hafner and his team traveled around Europe and the US searching out the best examples of garden centers to inspire them while they were designing the new store. They returned with ideas both encompassing inspiration and functionality. The result was a garden center that includes a 7-acre nursery designed to be a gigantic landscape. Over 60 display beds divided by winding paved pathways gives our customers the best selection of high-quality nursery stock, displayed in a beautiful environment, easy to shop, and sure to inspire.
Gardening Guides
The team here at Chuck Hafner’s are well known for their knowledge across all gardening areas. To help share that knowledge with our customers, we have created a series of gardening guides. From taking care of your hanging baskets or houseplants to growing your own vegetables and herbs you will find tips, tricks, and hopefully some inspiration for your own garden and home.
Delivery Services
Chuck Hafner’s delivers 7 days a week across Upstate New York from our location in North Syracuse. We deliver between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm.
Our Story
‘Hafner Brothers’ began in 1922 growing fresh fruits & vegetables. Chuck Hafner’s continues to grow and employs a staff of over 90 people seasonally in Syracuse NY. We continue to invest in local people and the local economy. Chuck Hafner’s history in Syracuse is a story we love to share.
Environmental
Many people would say the Hafner family have been green to the core all their lives. When they decided to build their new state of the art facility in 2008 here on Buckley Road the decision was made to make sure it was as environmentally sensitive as possible.
