Since 1922, the Hafner family has been farming in Syracuse, New York.  In 1968, Chuck Hafner’s Farmer’s Market was created with the goal of providing quality homegrown produce to Syracuse and the surrounding areas.  Since then the business has expanded into a 17-acre state of the art garden center and nursery yard.  The facility boasts a 67,000 square foot retail space as well as four acres of growing ranges.

Inventory and Receiving Control Specialist

Job Description

The Inventory and Receiving Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining all tasks involved with smooth, daily operations of the receiving area and inventory information processing into the store database.  The Inventory and Receiving Control Specialist will primarily utilize NCR CounterPoint Point Of Sale computer software program and operational processes to maintain an accurate inventory.

Required Skills

  • Maintain an open mind and positive attitude within the workplace with a problem solving “can do” approach
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all team members and customers
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher
  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret business reports
  • Work varied hours/days as business seasons dictate
  • Some understanding of processing information and merchandise via a computer and POS register system, preferably NCR CounterPoint POS is welcome

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized inventory database through correctly receiving products
  • Verify quantities, pricing and labeling for accuracy before product reaches sales floor
  • Creating new items into the system in an logical and strategic manner
  • Printing in-house price labels and corresponding signage
  • Running forecasting reports, setting reorder alerts and working with department managers to maintain and lead turn timely product ordering procedures
  • Help identify areas of shrink
  • Help identify areas to improve our processes
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management

Front End Coordinator – Assistant Manager

Job Description

Chuck Hafner’s Garden Center believes in providing the customer with the highest quality, value and an excellent customer experience.  As a Front End Coordinator, you are responsible for organizing and directing smooth operations in the Front End department before, during and after business hours reporting directly to the Front End Manager.  In addition to the Front End Coordinator responsibilities, you will also serve as a Customer Service Representative.  You will set the tone for each customer’s experience both on the phone and in person. You will also serve as a liaison assisting customers, answering questions and working to find solutions to daily matters keeping operations running smoothly.  The Front End Coordinator has growth opportunities for a Front End Assistant Manager position.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assign or otherwise ensure all registers are properly staffed
  • Ensure registers, computers, printers and other essential equipment are operating correctly
  • Coordinate deliveries and installations
  • Service wholesale accounts
  • Field and direct questions in-store and on the phone
  • Operating a cash register
  • Process customer purchases and returns
  • Cleaning and organization of work areas

 

Required Skills

  • Provide expert customer service when handling phone calls and fielding questions/complaints from customers

Nursery Team Member – Load Lane 

Job Description

Chuck Hafner’s Nursery Team Members who work in the Load Lane are primarily responsible for maintaining smooth, clean and neat daily operations of the Load Lane area.  In the Load Lane, Team Members will help customers by verifying sales receipts, wrapping and loading paid merchandise into the customer’s vehicle.  When the Load Lane is slow the Load Land crew will assist in other areas of the Nursery to accomplish the daily tasks working collectively as a critical member of the overall team.

Nursery Team Member – Delivery Driver

Job Description

Chuck Hafner’s Nursery Team Members who serve as a Delivery Driver are primarily responsible for delivering store merchandise in a timely reliable manner.  After the delivering requirements for the day have been completed the Delivery Driver will assist in the Nursery department to accomplish the daily tasks working collectively as a critical member of the overall team.

Essential Functions

  • Drive three different size trucks delivering product less than 75 miles away
  • Verifying delivery goods and order forms for accuracy
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and work environment
  • Detailing, stocking and cleaning Nursery sales yard and sold sections
  • Follow established department policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Active NYS Drivers License
  • Clean driving record
  • Work varied hours/days as business seasons dictate
  • Required to complete a background and drug screening evaluation
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Able to work in all weather conditions
